Amie MacKenzie brings more than 20 years of acting and teaching experience to MacKenzie and Lewis. In Denver, Amie has been in over 75 commercials and films and is a member of Actors’ Equity Association. For two years she played the titled role in Sylvia at The Avenue Theatre, and appeared at the The Arvada Center in The Women, and The Dinner Party, for which she received a nomination from The Denver Post for Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy, 2002. Amie has taught at The Denver Center, The Arvada Center and coaches privately, both actors and non-actors. Amie has worked with the Providence Academy of Law & Leadership
held at the DU Sturm College of Law, teaching presentation skills and
"Acting Techniques for Speaking your Message". Amie, through The
Providence Academy, has helped teach life's "success skills" to high
school students, many of whom are at-risk. Amie is thrilled to be translating her talents into the realm of courtroom performance.
Kurt Lewis, Esq., graduated from the University of Denver law school in 1981, practices intellectual property law and is a trial lawyer with the firm of Lewis and Sheid, LLC. He recently co-counseled with Larry Pozner, Dan Reilly and Adam Vela in obtaining a $2.9 million jury verdict for trademark infringement in Purebred Company v. HJ Heinz, Petsmart and Petco. Kurt has taught entertainment law at the University of Denver Law School. He is the founder and artistic director for the Crossroads Theatre at Five Points. He has authored the plays The Blue Vagabond and What Color is the Toaster which have appeared on Denver stages. He has studied various methods of acting and improvisation including: Stanislavski, Meisner, Uta Hagen and Keith Johnstone. His acting credits include Madwoman of Chaillot, Carnal Knowledge and The Real Inspector Hound. He is the President of the Board of Directors of Industrial Arts Theater Company.
