Actors and lawyers have much in common. Both have to be convincing, commanding, credible performers. Actors need to win the audience. Lawyers need to win the case. Much of legal training is spent learning the law, learning to research, and learning to organize information. Very little time is spent preparing lawyers to present their hard earned information. Stating facts, and listing events chronologically may be efficient, but it is not the way to win a trial. As lawyers explore their capabilities as actors, they find their own performance styles. We help lawyers discover exciting new ways to make a case come to life.
Amie MacKenzie and Kurt Lewis have teamed to create this CLE approved training for attorneys. In the trainings, you will learn the actual techniques used by actors to command an audience, create credibility, tell a story, evoke particular emotions, conquer nervousness, and thereby improve your courtroom performance. We structure our training so that you, the learner, are actively involved. Participants should be prepared to move, take risks, play, and contribute to discussion. Through exercises, discussion, videotaped performance, and feedback, you will find your own style. If you are looking for a lecture, look elsewhere. If you are looking for clear, practical techniques you can implement immediately, welcome!
